I’m still in my room (the NAB 2007 show floor does not open until 10:15am after the keynote).  Regardless, you can start checking out some of the cool stuff companies like Adobe and Apple are going to introduce now on the web.  Here is a quick rundown:

Apple:
Final Cut Studio 2 (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/)
Final Cut Server (http://www.apple.com/finalcutserver/)

Adobe Labs:
After Effects CS3 (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/aftereffectscs3/)
Premiere Pro CS3 (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/premierecs3/)
SoundBooth CS3 (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/soundbooth/)

Looks like Final Cut Studio 2.0 will be only $1,299 new and only $499 if you already own Final Cut Studio.  That’s an amazing price!

Color from Apple, part of the new Final Cut Studio 2.0, looks awesome.  Now, I’m not a colorist.  I only use the built in 3 channel color corrector in FCP and Premiere Pro 2, but this app is going to encourage me to learn more about color and how to create special looks for my videos.

Apple has a cool “What’s new” video that you should check out:
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/whatsnew.html

Motion 3.0 now allows for 3D space including 3D particles!  That’s awesome!  I use ParticleIllusion 3 for adding particles, but it’s only 2D.    With a 3D feature, I think I might just start using Motion 3 for my effects (though, for corporate videos, how many effects can you add?   Maybe add an explosion to a trainer’s head? Nuh….)

SoundTrack Pro now has Spectrum View, which is a cool way to view your sound and use Photoshop like tools to “edit” parts of your sound.   This feature has been in Adobe Audition 2.0, so it’s a welcomed new feature in SoundTrack Pro.

You can also “lift and stamp” effects in SoundTrack Pro.  This is a neat feature that was introduced in Aperture, Apple’s photography editing tool (which I love by the way!).

Looks like DVD Studio 4 chose the HD DVD route, vs. Adobe Encore CS3 which chose the Blueray route.   Very interesting.  One feature in Encore CS3 which is killer (and DVD Studio 4 does not seem to have) is output to Flash as well (so you can create a Flash page of your DVD menus…that’s cool!)

Well, gotta go to NAB.  Got lots of walking to do.  I’m bringing my video camera so I will try to have some short videos online by tonight of NAB.

Cheers!
