Ok, I have to tell you, I’m pretty sick and tired of all the publicity, stories in the newspapers, web sites, radio and TV all saying the same thing, that is, drinking the Apple Kool-Aid.

“The iPhone will break new ground…”

“The iPhone is a revolution…just like the iPod”

“The perfect phone…the iPhone”

Please!  Come on people…It’s a phone…Just like any other phone.

But, I’m open minded, and I do like Apple and its products.  So I decided to go to the Brea Apple Store and check out what the big deal was.

After fighting with all the people that were in the front corner where the iPhone is displayed, I finally got to see it.

There it was…in all it’s glory…

…then…all of a sudden……all the people that were surrounding that table disappeared.   There was a beam of light pointing from the sky down directly to that one iPhone, then I heard this music…mysterious music.  It was amazing, it was moving, it was wonderful.

Was this a dream or was it real?

Then, I slowly started walking towards that iPhone and as I got closer to it, it seemed that it kept getting farther away from me.  I started walking faster, but the iPhone kept getting farther and father away from me.   I then decided to start running…faster…faster…I’m catching up to it.

I made a huge leap and jumped to get it (in slow motion, of course) and as I landed and went to grab it, it is taken away from my hand by one of those “Geniuses” in the store.  Then the music suddenly stopped;  the beam of light disappeared; all the people came back to the same location where they were before and the sales person looked at me and said “Sorry…we are all sold out”.

My dream was over, no, not my dream to solve world hunger, the other one, to own an iPhone….but that’s ok, I will get over it.

In fact, I’m glad I couldn’t purchase one because I know that next year, there will be a second generation iPhone that will be better, faster, with more memory and, of course, cheaper.

And all those people, you know who I’m talking about, those really smart people who waited in line for 4 days to get the very first iPhone, the one with all the bugs, issues and the high cost, the first generation iPhone that does not have GPS, yes, you, next year I will be showing you my second generation iPhone, the one that only cost me $399, with 30GB of storage, a larger screen, GPS and the ability to microwave my food in it.

Yes.  I will be showing you that second generation iPhone and I will be laughing at you, I will be laughing at you very hard…of course, until my friend purchases the 3rd generation iPhone 6 months later for only $199 and he starts laughing at me, very hard, then of course, I won’t be happy anymore.

Until the next blog!
