Electronista reported today that AOL will stop supporting the Netscape browser.

This marks the end of an era. I remember personally, when Netscape went IPO and when it was THE company to invest in, work for and partner with. Ah…those were the days…I miss the 90s…

Jim Clark and Marc Andreessen were the founders of the company / browser back then and they were the “hottest” business people around. Everyone wanted to do deals with them.

Of course, no one wants to do any real estate deals with Jim Clark today though.

The good news about all of this is for developers. One less browser to support and to spend time debugging! Now if IE can die too (not likely) we’d just be left with Safari and Firefox, things would be great!
