NAB 365 is reporting that American Airlines will let their customers test in-flight internet access on two flights beginning today for free (just for the testing period).

Once testing is completing, they expect to roll it out throughout all it’s flights within a couple of weeks. American Airlines will charge between $9.95 to $12.95 for it’s service depending on the flight length. They have partnered with Aircell and the revenue will be shared between both companies.

American Airlines does not plan on blocking any sites (including pornography). They state that they already have procedures in place for inappropriate materials brought on board (e.g. Magazines and/or DVDs) and that it will be up to flight attendants to enforce those procedures.

This is great news for content creators that want to “specialize” on shows for the airlines. You have a captive audience and the success rate can be great if content is created appropriately for viewers on airplanes.
