The new MobileMe service was introduced by Apple (replacing the current .Mac service) on July 13th (along with the new iPhone and the new iPhone 2.0 software…all at the same time). The transition, unfortunately, did not go smoothly. Many people complained of .Mac email outages in various locations around the world. As a result of the complains and all the issues during the transition, on July 16th, Apple apologized (officially) and extended the subscriptions by 30 days to it’s users (not a bad way to handle this). “The .Mac to MobileMe transition was a lot rockier than we had hoped but everything is now up and running,” Apple spokesman, Bill Evans, told the magazine Macworld. “We want to apologize to our loyal customers and express our appreciation for their patience by giving all current subscribers an automatic 30-day extension to their MobileMe subscription free of charge.” Check out Apple’s FAQ for more information on the 30 day extension |
