Yes, life is good. After Apple announced and released the iPhone / iPod Toch software update (version 2.0), I had a chance to install it on my iPod Touch (32GB) and play with it.

It’s amazing! You basically now have a ultra mini Mac on the plam of your hand. The iPhone 2.0 software install was a breeze. I ran iTunes, went to my iPod Touch home screen and clicked on the “software update” button. The rest was a simple updated.

Once that was done, I was able to go to the iTunes store, click on the Apps store and start shopping! Most of the applications (such as Facebook, Pandora, Google, Tap Tap, etc.) are free.

Once you get to the applications store, just click on “All Free Apps” and you will see a huge list of applications.

Apple claims that they launched the apps store with 500 applications. Currently, they are now up to 800+. Not too shabby.

My personal thought is that the Apps store and iPod Touch / iPhone will convert many more people from Windows to Mac because they will start playing with applications they love on their iPhone and will want to use the same ones on the Mac (e.g. NetNews Wire).

If you haven’t updated your iPod Touch / iPhone software yet, I highly recommend you do it as quickly as possible.

One of my favorite apps on my iPod Touch is NetNews Wire, which allows me to subscribe to multiple feeds and manage them all via my iPod Touch. It even lets me save my favorites as clips which I can then sync on my iMac and write my blogs from there.

Have fun!
