I’m very proud and happy to announce that Pixel Heads Network has been acquired by ProMAX Systems.

First of all a little history about Pixel Heads Network. Pixel Heads Network started as The Digital Media Dude back in late 2007 as my personal blog about anything related to new media and digital media creation. I was working full time managing an interactive media studio, so this has been, for the past entire year, a part time endeavor, balancing it with my full time job and my family.

5004.jpegAs time passed, the blog’s popularity increased and I started getting many “how-to” questions on various digital media creation applications (e.g. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro). I decided to create a simple “how-to” screencast to show some people how to perform certain actions in those applications. I called this screencast “The Digital Media Dude Daily Tip Podcast”.

This podcast got picked up by iTune’s Top 100 and the number of subscribers started increasing almost immediately. By the 2nd quarter of 2008, I decided to take the focus away from me, “The Digital Media Dude” and place it on the company because I wanted it to grow beyond myself. To do that, I renamed the site to Pixel Heads Network and created more shows. I then became just a host of the “network”.

As my audience grew, sponsors started approaching me about my shows and by early 3rd quarter of 2008, my goal was to make Pixel Heads Network my full time job. My focused for the entire 4th quarter of 2008 switched from content creation to finding a complementary company that understood what I was trying to do with Pixel Heads Network and have them acquire us (actually me, since it’s been a one man show all this time…)

logo.gifFast forward to Wednesday, November 19, 2008. I was one of the presenters at a seminar for the MCA-I organization where I, along with 2 other talented individuals, where doing an “expert panel” on Web 2.0 tactics. Unfortunately, I had to cancel out that morning because of a project I was working on for my full time job. As the day progressed I was able to make great headway into that project and I decided to go and present that night.

Well, guess who was there? ProMAX. They were announcing they were a sponsor of the MCA-I and they spoke about what products and services they offer. I was very impressed and decided that I should approach them after the seminar to see if they were interested in being a sponsor. As the night progressed and the panel was done speaking, one of the guys from ProMAX approached me and said they were interested in perhaps sponsoring some of our shows.

As he and I continued speaking, we both started to realize there was something more to this then just a sponsorship deal. We decided to hook up later on that week to talk about Pixel Heads Network and ProMAX and how we could work closer together, since both of our customers are really the same, digital media creators.

So, as they say, the rest is history. The deal was signed and closed on December 16, 2008 and I am now happy to be part of the ProMAX family. My official first day with ProMAX will be January 15, 2009 as their Director of Interactive Media and General Manager of Pixel Heads Network! Can’t wait to get started!

We will have a video shortly with both Jess Hartmann, the CEO of ProMAX and myself talking a bit more in-depth about how things will progress moving forward, however, I want to make one thing very clear:

Pixel Heads Network will continue to be completely independent editorially. Yes, we are owned by and I’m an employee of ProMAX, however; we will never be driven to produce shows or cover topics or interview certain people only because ProMAX carries their products. This is a promise both from myself and from Jess Hartmann, the CEO of ProMAX. He believes deeply, as I do, in keeping the editorial content from Pixel Heads Network completely separate from the products and services ProMAX offers.

Of course, our hope is that you will shop at ProMAX and get your products and services from us, because after all, the success of ProMAX is the success of Pixel Heads Network. This is a win-win solution for ProMAX customers and for PHN viewers!

I’ve asked Jess Hartmann to provide me with a quote of why he acquired Pixel Heads Network, so here it is.

“ProMAX acquired Pixel Heads Network because the content, information, and value they are providing to the industry is directly in line with our vision.  Our goal as a value added reseller is to focus on the service we provide to our clients.  Ultimately you can purchase products from many vendors, in person or on the web.  But what you can’t get everywhere are the product and technical experts guiding you through the purchase and support process.  Pixel Heads Network is just another example of how we want to bring industry expertise and knowledge to our customers.”

Well, that’s the news. I wish everyone a very happy holiday season and a very happy new 2009! Expect great thing from Pixel Heads Network and ProMAX, working together to bring you the very best in products, services, shows, content, news and everything you need as a digital content creator!

If you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to email me!

Cheers!

You have to be extremely proud of this accomplishment. We’ve talked numerous times on your interests of PHN’s future and you nailed it! Again, congrats!

Congrats! We are happy to have ProMax as sponsors for the LA/OC MCA-I chapter. We all have alot ot time and energy in e-communications which is absolutely great, but here is an example of actual, live, face to face meetings resulting in a significant event for the two businesses. Getting out and meeting people “in person” is still one of the best way to go I think. Good luck!
